High Creatinine: My creatinine has gone to... - Kidney Disease
High Creatinine
Those figures can fluctuate a lot. Things that can influence the data can involve basic things like dehydration, strenuous exercise, age (function slowly declines with age) as well as injuries and diseases of various sorts (autoimmune, blood pressure, diabetes, medicine overuse, polycystic disease, etc.) On the surface, the numbers are not far from normal. If you were dehydrated, for example, you could improve them quite a bit. (If you're a senior citizen, there may be little, if any, concern at all since often an eGFR of 60 or above is considered quite normal by some gerontology experts in the field.) I do suggest that you sit down with your doctor for a conversation about this - s/he probably has your history at her fingertips and is the best person to investigate and guide you forward. We can't do that here - none of us are medical professionals - but we can convey our experiences. Please feel free to hop back on here should the outcome worry you. We're here for you!
From my experience the number improved once i tried kidney friendly diet, low protein diet. But the damage was still there, they just did lighter work so the number improved.
My nephrologist said he won't even begin to worry until my creatinine reaches 2, so I don't worry. My labs this month are creatinine 1.54 and eGFR 38. My eGGR has been as low as 25 at times. My highest creatinine was 1.95. I'm in stage 3b and have been since diagnosed several years ago.
