To drink or not to drink..... yes, it is good, depending on the stage you are at. 2-4, enjoy up to 72 ounces daily or about 2 liters. Stage 5, you might be regulated because of edema. If you are on dialysis, it will be monitored, and you may be limited. I am not, and I still drink about 60 ounce most days. If you drink over 72 ounces, you may be drinking too much. Or if you have a heart condition or edema already, you may be over doing it. Ask the doctor how much they want you to drink. There is a lot to consider.

Drink to thirst. There’s nothing to be gained by over drinking. Drink too much, your sodium will get low and you will end up in the hospital with hyponeutremia (happened to me, yes, I was an idiot, I thought I was doing the right thing. I drank 9 glasses one day, 10 the next day, and next thing I know I’m in the Emergency Department because my doctor saw my bloodwork and told me to go.

Yes! Overdoing anything isn't wise! I passed out from low sodium. A lot of people also have poorly functioning hearts and kidneys. Lots to consider. People really need to seek doctor oversight. Everyone is different.

Every BODY is different. My CKD is from dehydration. Most of what I drink never makes it to my kidneys and goes straight into my ileostomy bag. I drink non stop. Other folks get terrible edema and are on fluid restrictions. Talk to your Dr, ask to explain the WHY. Specific to you and your condition and history. If they tell you, well the books say so, get another Dr. This is why I hate renal dieticians. They just read from a handout and give the wrong advice for my BODY. I NEED potassium and have even been prescribed potassium powder to drink sometimes.

I thought it was good too but not if your urine is clear all day that’s too much from what I’ve read.. they sat 2 liters a day
