Unfortunately, the answer is probably no. Matter of fact, lots of people lose more of their appetite. I think the body responds differently as we all are different. I speak for myself and a few friends I know on dialysis.

It depends. When I was on PD I lost my appetite about 3 months in....when I switched to in center Hemo I got my appetite and more back. I am hungry and eat a lot.

Again this is just me but I haven't had trouble sleeping on either PD altho others do...or on hemo. I have just as much energy as I always have.

PD requires you or the patient to follow all procedures to the letter or risk infection. I always did and had no infection but it. There's no baths or swimming on PD except in a private pool or the ocean.

In center hemo the nurse/tech does everything but I make it a point to learn what they are doing and ask questions.

Either way the more you know the better.

I am on haemodialysis. When I started I wasn't eating very much. With-in 2 weeks I had such a craving for starchy carbs. Mac n cheese was a big one 😫😫😫..it was all i could think of!! I know a few patients who get their appetite back big time and others who feel extremely nauseous and food is the last thing they want. As for sleep, I wish...my sleep pattern has gone haywire on dialysis. Its become a big problem. I am about to leave for work and have not slept a wink. Think I'm surviving on pure adrenaline 🙉🙉

My hubby improved significantly on dialysis. He initially was on in-center hemodialysis and later went on peritoneal dialysis. His appetite, sleep, color, and also his constant need to urinate improved. (He had very high blood pressure and edema at the time.) Most of his dialysis issues involved cramping and fatigue with hemodialysis, and dealing with the occasional alarms with peritoneal dialysis while on a cycler overnight. My hubby waited until the very end to start dialysis (on an emergency basis) and so that may be why the improvements showed up quickly. It was a big relief to me to see the turnaround.
