I had atrial fibrillation for at least 15 years the dr. say don't worry about it. I had a mini stroke in 2008, I didn't take my blood pressure medicine plus I was a heavy drinker and ate everything that went in my mouth :).

I cleaned up my act since I've been on this website lost weight, eating healthy and exercise but my dr said to check out the problem with my heart. I have no pain or anything but I guess because I'll be 77 in Sept this dr keep talking about a stroke.

There's a lot of side affects with this new med including kidneys I suppose to start but I think I'll wait until I see my primary dr. July 6th.

I've been on amlodipine and atorvastatin 20mg for more then 15 years had no problems.

Anyone taking enalapril have good or bad experience with this med the dr. also said he want usually add 3 more meds with this. :( :( .

Thank you and God bless you all.

I would check with your Nephrologist on this one. It has a diuretic affect which MAY be not good. But I am no doctor. And he wants to add 3 more meds to this?? Controlling BP is really hard with CKD. Currently, I am on 3 different BP meds and the only reason was because one, that I have been on for thirty years, was raising my potassium. So now, 3 to replace it...

No, for the heart something he gives to his patients. I looked it up & it said when you take enalapril you take others to go with it. My problem is nothing hurts yet.

Are you asking in the context of your CKD?

ACE inhibitors (such as Enalapril) are renal protective. You might have a small eGFR dip in the beginning but then the decline in kidney function should slow down.

I took Lisinopril for 20+ years with no side effects, but Amlodipine gave me terrible edema (and I'm not the only one). Everyone is different though.

I looked at your bio - your eGFR just slightly lower than it should be for your age, take a good care of your hart and blood pressure and you will probably do just fine.

I've been taking lisinopril for years and ween off after taking resveratrol being on this site. The people feedback improved my wellbeing.

When you go to a doctor he's only concerned with his area of expertise. I say this because I ask drs. will this hurt my kidneys no and gives me naproxen.

I worked hard being on this site I was depressed worrying so much about everything. I feel pressured by this doctor because he keeps talking about strokes and prolonging my life or improving it. I asked him will I feel better he told me I have no symptoms now NO 😙.

I continue to ask God for guidance and maybe that pill would work but the dr. scared me when he said he usually prescribe 3 pills with it I don't want to start popping pills at my age again.
