Bad taste
Here are a couple of articles about this. They suggest using a mouth wash might help.
Sodium Bicarbonate Mouthwash
1 teaspoon sodium bicarbonate (buy from supermarket) mixed into 500ml water. Rinse mouth during the day to eliminate build up.

Probably high BUN gets into your saliva a flavors everything. I couldn't even stand the taste of water. So I used things to flavor the water. Of course most sugar free flavors also cause diarrhea. So, you kinda have to pick what is most important... I wish I had a good solution for you.
Another side effect I experienced was a huge build up tartar on my teeth. It didn't matter how much I brushed it would build up thick yellow crud. I had to have cleanings 3 or 4 times a year.
Most of the artificial sweeteners cause diarrhea except for Stevia. It seems to be one that is safest.
It's usually a metallic taste from lowered ability of kidneys to eliminate metals in blood like sodium, potassium, calcium etc. This happens to many in stage 4-5 Mouthwash does help most.Blessings
Thank you.
I have a similar problem. I'm stage 5. I was told to drink water with baking soda every day to reduce acidity. I now have a salty taste in my mouth, which is an improvement, but with a drawback. Almost all my food tasted too bland now!
Thank you.
