Has anyone been told that their Graves’ disease contributed to their kidney disease. I had untreated Graves for 5 years and researched that it could cause CKD
Graves disease: Has anyone been told that... - Kidney Disease
Graves disease
I was diagnosed with Stage 3 CKD back in 2017 and am now going through labs because they think I have Graves Disease now also. Thank you for your post because the dots are starting to connect for me!
giv n what I know now I’ve probably had graves all my life as it’s an autoimmune disease. What caused the flare was a very stressful time when my daughter was in a car accident. Is it possible it contributed to my CKD sure but there’s no way to prove it. I just keep stress low in order to remain in remission.
Very interesting. The thyroid effects every organ in our body. It only makes sense that having too much TSH which causes graves would effect us. I also was just diagnosed with with pulmonary hypertension and graves is also a contributing factor to that.
Hopefully once the graves is corrected, our CKD may improve along with correcting other things in our body.
in my case being in remission has done nothing to lessen my CKD. I continue to slide closer to stage 5. I also have a mitochondrial disease which is causing retinal dysfunction and sensoneural hearing loss. It may or may not be the cause of my kidney failure but I need another genetic test to rule that out.
