A quick question: For the last week, my food has had a odd taste and its killing my appetite. Food that I usually eat doesn't taste the same. Is this CKD or something else? Any sharing of experience would be appreciated. Thanks.

Taste and Appetite
I'm replying to my own question. I just realized I've been taking oxybutynin for overactive bladder and its drying my mouth out while working on my bladder. I guess that's why my taste buds are going nuts. About an hour after I take this medication, my mouth is so dry. What a pain this whole issue of medication is. Take it and it cures one thing while causing problems somewhere else. BTW the way, the oxybutynin is working as it has almost totally controlled the overactive bladder issues. Now, I have to work on my taste buds! Hope everyone has a good week.
I just found out that oxybutynin lists "bad taste" as being one of their side effects. Ugh!
You don't say how bad your CKD is but when mine was near it's peak, I would get a metal taste in my mouth or food just didn't taste right. It has to do with the amount of urea in your blood. Here is a link to an article. freseniuskidneycare.com/thr...
