I am a 78-year-old male that has just had a kidney removed due to cancer . All this happened in July rather quickly. Was hoping that the other kidney would pick up the load but it looks like the GFR is ranging between 24 and 28. I am not happy about all this but it is what it is. I am in good physical condition not overweight good life so far. I will be monitoring the website in the near future as I am not far from being a stage four patient The doctors for hopeing that GFR would be about 40. So far no luck.

hi keep thinking positively as I had my kidney removed because of Cancer back in 2010 when it also went along the colon. They gave me 3yrs then but I said I would beat all the odds & here I am at 85. I have 6 weekly blood checks & for the past 5 yrs GFR has been 10% but 2 weeks ago it was 12. I don’t want to go on dialysis unless it’s gets to 6 or 7. I recently changed my diet to a plant based one although I have been dairy free for about 18 yrs now & all the time I can manage even if it’s only some things I will not go on dialysis. So please keep smiling & loving xxxx

If your gfr is 29 or under you are already stage 4.

above post is correct, technically, regardless stages help with what to expect now and next, plus as humans we like neat and orderly these the need to “put everything into its place.” Give you, your body and your kidneys some time. Similar to AKI the cancer and subsequent removal is a shock to all body systems. Do are the recommended lifestyle changes and give your kidneys 6/12 months to completely recover, you may (MAY) still see some improvement! Best of luck!

5+ yrs ago, my mum went thro the same as you/others replying on here. Post nephrectomy, her eGFR was 36 but we managed to increase it gradually to a high of 76 by natural means so there is hope. It slipped back to 46 recently so we are working on that now!

Everyone js different but seeking natural solutions can clearly be beneficial.
