Urinating less today. Last eGFR down to 61 from 84 week before. Maybe cyst causing added problem with urine output?

Hey, I have Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). Many people on this forum do. But there are very different kinds of kidney cysts. You would need to get your nephrologist to research, diagnose and speak with you about what kind of cyst you have and what damage it may be or not be doing to your kidney. Mine have been progressing for years. I will be starting dialysis next month because the cysts have overtaken my kidneys and have my kidney function down to about 5% at this point. So if you have not seen a nephrologist (kidney specialist), get your primary care doctor to refer you to a very good one who will work with you to get the answers you are looking for initially, so you can post more detail here and get others experiences for your specific kind of kidney cyst. Does that make sense?

Yes RonZone. My Nephrologist is the person who called me with "benign" cyst result. Was very abbreviated conversation and he stated: "not malignant" but did not elaborate. I asked my pcp for new referral for Nephro.

Good luck finding out more info. Hard to believe how hard it is to pull info out of these folks at times. Good for you for being proactive and pursuing a better source for info.

Had no choice. Nephro I saw 2 weeks ago spent five minutes with me as new patient. Once again, numbers have more meaning to them than the individual, it appears in this case.I'm doing EVERYTHING I can: diet, adequate hydration, medication, exercise, etc., but labs, VS's, still fluctuating drastically. Can't sleep, losing weight, was afraid to eat, but now with plant-based diet, some GI issues have improved. Trying to figure out if ARB Losartan is causing urine retention, nocturia drops in blood sugar and hypovolemia in mornings? Definitely contributing to accelerated HR. Cancelled family summer vacation to Disney this year... grandson is 12 and never been. Here's to praying I become stable and maybe next year make that trip with he and my family 😔🙏❤

I have a cyst too but the CT scan showed that it was not blocking anything . Earlier I was yold that we get them as we age. As far as urination goes. That is more likely a diet issue at your stage. And you sound depressed...another factor to dropping gfr. Probably the biggest one actually. Maybe a stay-at-home vacation is in order. Sure some mini adventures with your grandson would help take your mind off your own issues for awhile. Life is too short to put those types pf things on hold. Realistically some could happen to your grandson then you would have to live with a lot if regret which would take you to a new level of depression. So make some plans...modified will do and live life.
