Hello all you very knowledgeable kidney experts. Can anyone shed any light on aching muscles. I have Dense deposit disease. (auto immune kidney disease). I think I'm about stage 3b now. My cholesterol has been very high due to the condition but I have been taking statins and it has dropped from 10.5 to 6.6. I can endure the aches which are usually gone by mid morning but I am a runner and am finding it hard work because of the problem. So, are the aches linked to my statins which I have read can happen but what I'd like to know is can the proteinuria etc cause weak muscles which is why im aching and finding exercise all a bit hard work. Or is it just an age thing (i am 60) and I need to stop making such a big fat fuss and get on with it. I just wondered if it might be anything else. I get a lot of cramp and spasms in my muscles esp if I overdo stuff. Weeding in the garden/use of hands isn't so good. Any thoughts much appreciated.

Aching muscles
Not sure if you are on BP medication but when I was on Losartan I had terrible joint pain. My knees and the soles of my feet were agony. I didnt make the connection for months then I changed medication. The pain went within 3 days. Just a thought. So it could be the statins. I hope you find a solution soon. Also maybe look at vitamin D if you are taking it as a supplement. It can possibly lead to calcification .
What did you change to from Losartan? I take it and in pain too! Are you taking it for proteinuria?
Hi Ocean
I was put on Doxazosin. I don't get the painful joints with it but it does make me really tired. Now I take it at night before bed. Cant really find any BP medication that agrees with me. Yes I take it for both proteinuria and high blood pressure. Also my gfr used to decline quite a bit with Losartan. Hope you find something that works for you.
