Rash from kidney disease
What kind of rash are you referring to.?
You should bring it up to your medical team. I believe that a build up of toxin or mineral may cause that and might need to be addressed. I have experienced mild rash and buying more "green" body and laundry soap was enough to keep thing under control. It's been a while I have not done it but I had some success with sauna (check to make sure you don't have restrictions first). It might be the opposite for you.
It's been mostly trial and error. For example I now use Dr. Bronner pure castile bar soap and wash my laundry with a plant based soap made by eco max (I live in Canada). Tide free and gentle works but had issue with the Kirkland equivalent.
I use tide now, the rash just keeps getting worse
Thank you for your reply
When one is on dialysis or close to needing dialysis, very high phosphorus levels can create a red, itchy rash. This happened to my hubby. So it's probably best to check your labs and, if high, to talk to your doctor. In a situation like this, things can be done to help relieve it to a certain extent with over-the-counter sprays and meds. But please don't treat yourself without consulting medical professionals.
Check liver function too
Hello hardrock430. Perhaps you could try some calamine lotion. I know that usually, it’s very good at easing the itching from insect bites, and rashes caused by poison ivy and sumac. It may work for this as well. Also, as mentioned above by Darlenia, it may be caused by high phosphorus levels. Another possibility may be that perhaps you may have an allergy to some new products you’re using, such as, body wash, shampoo, laundry detergent, etc., or different foods or drinks you may be consuming. New allergies can develop over time. I hope you’ll find this helpful. Please keep us posted! 😊👍🙏

June 3 is National Itch Day. Check out the a bove link to leanr more about CKD associated pruritus.
I did get a rash on my legs. I went to my primary doctor and he gave me a prescription for a cream. My rash also was itching. It did go away after using the cream, he also reinforced drinking as much water as allowed. I suggest you show it to your Doc.
I have rashes due to Ezcema and my phosphorus is on the low side ( not vegetarian either) I will use a little clobestasal cream when I over scratch it and when it bleeds. However if you are concerned about steroid cream you can try magnesium oil hemp seed oil or essential oil like clove oregano avacado etc and eat foods with vitamin C D and magnesium or take supplements but ask your Dr first becasuse your body might not be able to get rid of it and the medicines you may be taking may interact. Tell your Dr about your conditions and confirm with them first finally try soaking with oat powder or baking soda in warm but not hot water for 15 mins rise and apply lotion while the water is drying on your body. Apply lotion 3 times a day or as often as needed also try not to scratch
Wow, hardrock, I can SO identify! I was diagnosed with stage 2 CKD last January (GFR 53)(I'm female, age 77), then in February a rash started on the upper right part of my back that was soon driving me crazy. Finally went to a dermatologist in April, who said it's a symptom of CKD and who prescribed an ointment. I used that daily but really didn't feel much relief. That rash seems to have subsided, but now the rash has moved to my entire scalp. Unfortunately I'm a scratcher and a picker, and short of wearing boxing gloves, I despair of keeping my fingers off it. (It doesn't help that when I'm under stress, like reading about the latest mass murders of the kids and teachers in Texas and the insane responses from our national "leaders," I feel even more driven to scratching.) I don't know what my phosphorous level is (something one of your responders mentioned as a possible culprit) but will ask to have that checked. Maybe I should just keep my head perpetually soaked (not really practical!)
I dont believe there is a rash that comes with kidney disease, especially in early stages. "Some" in later stages may get a rash associated with high phosphorus levels which can be controlled by proper treatment, diet and binders. Blessings
Thanks everyone! My hubby is stage 4 and on the list for kidney pancreas. His legs have been so itchy and he can't stop scratching. He uses aquafor ointment after a bath at the end of the day. It helps, but I didn't realize we could be doing more gentle products or even a cortisone cream. Thanks for all the ideas!Jess
