1.10 creatinine level and Small left kidney with diffuse parenchymal changes

Hi everyone!

I hope someone can help me.

I had utz last February and my Dr told me that my left kidney is smaller with parenchymal changes. Today, I had my blood chem taken and the result came back with a high creatinine level of 1.10. My dr said that is not alarming but needed further evaluation since my left kidney is getting smaller. Is my creatinine and utz result means I have problem with kidneys?

Btw, I have DM 2 and hypertension.

I hope someone can give advice. Thank you in advance.

I have a smaller right kidney. No one knows if it got smaller recently or if it's been that way from birth. I do have kidney disease and I believe that it could have been caused by hypertension that I thought was controlled but, in reality, wasn't. I thought I had white coat syndrome but, in retrospect, I probably should have realized that I needed more medication. My eGFR has improved since I started taking additional hypertension medication.

Firstly a creatinine level of 1.10 is by most labs not considered high. Usually abnormal is 1.50 or above. All of these questions however should be poised to your doctor. We cannot diagnose. I will say though that DMT2 and hypertension are the top 2 causes of Kidney disease. Keeping them well controlled is key. Please reach out to your doctor. Blessings

Both my kidneys have shrunk. My CKD was caused by a chemo combo I had for ovarian cancer. I was warned it was a possible side effect (amongst many others), but it worked against all odds. I am 8 years cancer-free but now have tiny kidneys and Stage 3 CKD.

Went to 2 nephrologist yesterday. I was not satisfied to what the 1st nephrologist said to me. He just told me that we cannot do nothing about it. And we'll just have to take care of my right kidney. Asked me to get eGFR. The 2nd doctor, gave me sodium bicarbonate to help lower my creatinine level and get a ct scan and egfr. I just hope that my egfr result is good. Been crying all day yesterday. This thing is really giving me anxiety.☹️

Try not to let it get you too down. I always tell myself that there are people who are living just fine with only one kidney. And it sounds like you are not done with all the testing. I hope that your eGFR comes back good.
