EATING RAW PEANUTS: ARE RAW PEANUTS GOOD OR... - Kidney Disease
EATING RAW PEANUTS
raw nuts are recommended as a good source of protein. You should consult with your doctor to see if they are right for you considering your medical history.
They're high in oxalates, but unless you're a kidney stone maker, no reason to worry.
They are high in phosphorus. If your doctor has you limited your phosphorus in your diet you'll need yo limit nuts, dairy etc. Please consult your doctor. Blessings
The only nut I know of that is lower in phosphorus is the Macadamium Nut...My Nephologist let's me eat a few Nuts as long as my phosphorus stays in range...in other words give up something else to eat them...which I do from time to time. ...I am also on dialysis, so I have help removing some of the bad stuff
I just got some pistachios for a birthday present from my brother along with a cute note saying that 26 of them are a complete protein. I'm enjoying some because my lab results are good. They're delicious. However, as always, you must diet to your labs not anyone else's. Best to everyone.
I'd say they're deadly but I get anaphylaxis from just smelling a peanut. My friend gave me some potato chips that were cooked in peanut oil, who knew. Almost killed me, thank goodness for EpiPens.
I'm sure they are safe, but as for improving CKD that's one I haven't heard.
Don't eat salty ones or they could be bad for fluid retention.
See a dietician and/or ask your Dr.
Macadamian nuts are the best nuts for CKD.
