PD Fluid

Hello,

Question to my fellow PD peeps : how do you warm up your fluid?

I do manual exchanges.

The clinic gave me a heating pad to warm the fluid. After about 8 hours, it will have one side of the bag lukewarm.

I just can't use the fluid when it's cold - it hurts.

So I wondered if y'all have any secrets?

Thanks :)

get two heating pads, one for each side and sandwich the bag in between.

Yes...try a heating bag on each side...and then wrap the whole thing in a blanket..and not only should you not use the Solution cold, it can also damage your peritoneal bag...I also had to use my own heating pad because the one my Clinic gave me never really got warm

Hello,

PD fluid = peritoneal dialysis fluid.

Have a good day.

Hey...just wondering...did they offer you the Cycler to do your PD while you sleep at night ?...It heats it's own Solution..

Yes, they did offer that, but I still have a young child at home who needs me during the night, so the manual exchanges seemed my best bet. I do get a little frustrated that it basically takes my whole day, but for now I have to make it work.

I do plan to move on to the cycler at some point.

Right. Peritoneal dialysis performed at home by an expert.

just kidding -- performed at home by simple me.

When I was on PD I kept a few bags in a cooler with the heating pad inside th cooler. It kept a bag or 2 warm and ready when you need.

I was thinking that I would keep one of the cardboard boxes & find something to line it and use that to keep a couple of bags warm, but a cooler would be so much better. Thanks, I'll add a cooler to my Amazon cart with the 2 new heating pads.
