Surgery healing
What do your PD Nurses say ?. I am with the understanding that an exit site never really heals because it is an opening from the outside of your body to the Inside...and that is why it is so important to clean...use Germacide Ointment and to apply clean bandage everyday...I had my surgery last Feb and I still see a scab from time to time...but got told that was normal and to not disturb the scab..let it fall off by itself....
Be sure to keep your tubing taped down securely, as to prevent tugging in your exit site, which will prevent healing further
Put honey on it. Good honey. Honey will cure gangrene. It will promote healing in no time. Just put the honey on and use some cheesecloth wrap. That kind of spongy stuff. It seems kind of crazy but it will work.
I wonder can you have the P D at home when stomach and chest are a mass of outside and inside scars .
That's a good question to ask your nephrologist who can quickly check out your surgeries and scars and give you an opinion. If you do choose to go for peritoneal dialysis, one of the best sources to find a great surgeon for placing the catheter is the dialysis center that will take over your care. The best surgeon will be able to locate and position it correctly with minimal, if any, discomfort to you whether on or off dialysis. Why the dialysis center? They see lots of PD patients for training, for regular follow-ups, etc. The dialysis center becomes your "go-to" place for everything. They see and deal with the issues and some surgeons simply are better than others. When the center gives you the list of surgeons, ask them to mark the best one.
