Some medications contain ingredients that may be harmful to a damaged kidney. Consult with your doctor about any medication that you are taking and ask for kidney safe alternatives if needed.
It is known to drop GFR initially. Ironically this is how the SGLT 2 inhibitors save the kidneys by slowing them down and decreasing the pressure. If you were to stop the med the GFR would come back up
I would be having a conversation with my nephrologist about this drug.I have had a transplant and I still "run" everything past my nephrologist, whether it is something prescribed by my PCP or something OTC.
Better to be safe than sorry!
Wow! I would love my GFR to be 38. What is Farixga med? Are there any other meds your nephrologist prescribes to increase GFR? My Kaiser doctor does not prescribe me any meds to increase GFR accept my high blood pressure meds. I sometimes think I am not getting the best care at Kaiser for kidney disease.
