Hello everyone

Hope you're all doing fine.

My little sister (she's 9) got diagnosed with ckd 5. The reports (creatinie level of 7.8 ) are not good.

Rn me and my parents all really really worried. Our doctor is carrying on with the meds now but a transplant will likely be required at some point which really scares me. It makes my heart drown.

I really need to hear some successful stories which i know there are many

I just need some advice.

Another question i have is how long can meds be continued until transplant? When is it too late (God forbid)

Im just lost to be honest.

Thankyou for taking the time to read :)

Hello, I’m really sorry to hear about your sister! That must feel really hard for all of you!

I don’t really know any answers to your questions but just wanted to send a hug 🤗 I do know a young lady though who is now 22 who had a kidney transplant at 5 years old. She has multiple health problems but is doing really well and living her life really fully within her ability.

I really hope your sister gets the best treatment possible for her soon. You sound like an amazing sibling..sorry I don’t know if you are her brother or sister? But she’s very lucky to have you!!

Hi there! I know this is scary. I was diagnosed in 2003. But they told me there’s nothing you can do so I ignored it. In 2015 I went to urgent care for something else and was told I needed to see a nephrologist. I immediately changed my diet and started supplements and exercise. That carried me through to 2020 when I went on dialysis. In the meantime I went to hospital and was tested and put on transplant list. Then I started looking for a live donor. I won’t lie, it was hard at times. You’ll have all kinds of people who will promise but don’t follow through. That’s normal! Don’t get discouraged. As hard as it is, she will adapt. I’m confident she will get her transplant! I got mine this February from my cousin!! Doing great and so thankful. Know that I’m praying for your family all the way from Texas!!

Thats greatHope you're doing well now.

If i may ask what stage were you diagnosed of in 2003?

They didn’t give me a stage. I had just gone to ER for something else, they did a ct and saw I had polycystic kidney disease. But in 2015 I was stage 5
