Hi and welcome to the community. I've attached an article for you that will give you the information you need. Your nephrologist or PCP will be able to order an ultrasound to aid in making the diagnosis. Best of luck.

HI Lola,There are many tests for kidney stones. One is an ultrasound where they actually look for the stones. Stones are formed by different situations . There are two common ones, high oxalates or high uric acid. Both are treatable. You can lower the levels by diet and or medications. I have high uric acid level which produced a huge amount of stones. I am on allopurinol and sodium citrate and have not had a stone since. It all depends on the cause and type of stone which they can do through blood tests.
