Borderline Small Kidneys

Hi! I am fairly new to this. My PCP moved so I changed to a new doctor who did bloodwork and referred me to a nephrologist because my eGFR was 36. He had me do the ultrasound and the only thing that stands out to me is Borderline small kidneys without evidence of focal abnormality. Could this mean my kidneys are normal in size or that they are shrinking? I haven't had my appointment with the kidney dr yet, but wondered if any of you know about how the size might affect the health of the kidneys. I am a 75 yr old female, no diabetes. For many years I have had high blood pressure but now the kidney dr says my blood pressure is too low and that kidneys don't like low blood pressure and he and my PCP have halved and now further my tablets. He said for my age the systolic should be in the 130's. For several years my former PCP has added HCTZ (water pill) to the blood pressure pill and just removed it last November. I can't help but wonder if that was drying my kidneys. Maybe someone can relate to at part of this post. I appreciate all comments and suggestions.

Maybe discuss with your Doctor if your kidney size could be age related. Keep us posted. Here is a link to information on aging and Kidneys. medlineplus.gov/ency/articl...

Thanks for your reply. I used your link and that page did help, seeing that kidneys do get smaller with age.
