My nephrologist always tells me that kidneys on there own do not cause pain, unless you have an infection, kidney stones or a blockage. So, if it hurts enough that you posted the question, I think you need to contact your doctor and find out the cause. Pain from another cause, other than back strain, can have radiating pain to their back.

Get an appt with your doc. Best of luck.
