Not knowing what "liver cleanse" you were taking, it is know what to say accept this: Anytime you cleanse, you are removing waste.... supposedly...and fluid, lots of fluid. When you did this, you probably are stressing the kidney out, you may be dehydrated, and there may be an impact of something in the product that is nephrotoxic.

The body is an amazing thing when it works correctly. We do not EVER need to cleanse our body, it does a fine job all by itself. But garbage in, garbage out. What you put into your body makes the body work either work well or work harder. For example, red meat does not break down well no matter how healthy you are. When the filter system gets damaged, for what ever reason, the filters can only handle so much. That is why with the kidney they say to drink sufficient water to help get toxins out. Just water. Then there comes a point where you can ever over do water.

Also, GFR will fluctuate. It is a snapshot of the day you took the lab. The time you had the 75 may have been a fluke, you were well hydrated, the temperature was different, or even a different lab.

Supplements are not regualted. I read that Milk thistle can be good for diabetes, CKD and DT2, and liver issues. But again, how much and what else is in the product you are taking. Talk to the nephrologist to see what they think. Bring the bottle with you.

Take no supplements without speaking to your nephrologist and renal dietitian. Supplements are usually not well regulated and can do more harm than help.

Do you believe your doctor or dietician know much about supplements?

I don’t!

Repeatedly they deny any benefits and often laugh when i try to discuss it. They regard most supplementation as waste of money. Dietitians are equally controversial. You need to thoroughly research for yourself, carry out regular tests and keep observations of your body.

I have been diagnosed with acute IgA nephropathy two years ago. I went to 4 nephrologist , 3 Chinese doctors and 3 dietitians. That was very bad experience, but very good lesson. I was told there is no cure, so get ready for dialysis. This is what contemporary doctors know.

I refused to give up. Instead I had to educate myself about supplements at advanced level. I began my own therapy. My results, well... eGFR increased steady from 18 to 60 and al, other parameters are normal in two years, only by taking supplements.

Our body has wonderful ability to repair itself, restore vital functions and repair damage, but you must look after and give it the best nutritions.

I wish you al, the best.
