My dr is still unable to book me in for tests, and my urine is still so dark. However I'm am on zanidip10 for my hypertension and I had extreme swelling on my legs and feet, now my swelling is down but I noticed I lost about 6kg in 2 weeks. Is this normal? Its like I lose a few grams everyday.

Hi. Is the zanidip a new medication for you? From what found on the web it can cause swelling of the feet and legs. Do you think you're drinking enough fluids? Dehydration can cause darker urine. Please do some research on the zanidip so you can have information to ask your doctor about. That's 13 pounds so that's quite a bit. Can you call your MD and see if he wants to do another urine test? I do have otc test strips that I use to test my urine. Among other things they test for blood, protein and several nothing things. Wish I had more for you.
You could have been retaining that much water and I would think you would feel much better with it gone. You should probably weigh yourself daily to monitor water retention but of course seek advice from your doctor concerning this issue.
Hello Isipingo. It sounds like the new medication is helping by removing the swelling and fluid retention. It sounds like this is a good thing. It’s very possible that that’s the amount of fluid you were retaining. (Wish I could lose 13 pounds! Lol!)
But remember too, you need to drink water to flush your body. Ask your doctor what she / he believes is the right amount for you. Flushing your body with water should help somewhat with the dark urine issue. Dark urine can happen to everyone, CKD or not, if they’re not drinking enough water, and usually in the mornings.
I’m glad to hear that your fluid level has come down Isipingo. Do try to drink more water though. I know it’s not always easy especially when you’re not thirsty, but it’s good for you. Please do let us know if that helps any. I wish you all the best! God bless. 😊👍
