I know heart issues can cause that, but I've never heard of CKD causing that.
Not until you have very advanced disease. On the other hand, lack of showering will definitely cause a buildup of urea/ammonia on the skin.
I've Heard Edson salt baths several times a week can help. Heavy ingestion of red meat, beer and beans can lead to Ulrich acid build up generally causing gout. But, this is certainly not normal and should be discussed with a doctor. Your body is telling you something is off.
Unfortunately that is true. I really do think it depends on the person and how advanced their disease is. When I was going through CKD I really noticed an odor when I would perspire. And even if I had just brushed my teeth and flossed, I had horrible breath. I remember always having mints along with me. My doctor had explained that it had to do with a build up of toxins.
I am now 20 years post transplant and have never had those issues again.
Maybe your doctor has a suggestion for you?
Check the pH in your urine stream. The idea is to maintain a "7" which is neutral. I check mine twice a day and keep it neutral or a little alkaline with sodium bicarbonate tablets. Your doctor may not be trained in this but you have to ask anyway.
I know the toxins that don’t get filtered cause odor. Can’t say I know for sure but I think your probably right thinking that.
Someone more knowledgeable will help you more.
