Stopped eating meat only a little chicken a couple times a month, and yes gfr improved alot, also cut dairy
Looks like a worthwhile read. I don't expect reversal, just want to maintain eGFR of 27 as long as possible.
Wishing you all the best. I did not take my GFR of 30 very seriously the last couple of years. I took my health for granted even though I was diagnosed with IgA Nephritis in 2003. My doctors kept telling diet did not really matter and although I am not a meat eater or an alcohol drinker, this last year I broke all the rules. I worked too much, ate vegan snacks full of sodium, ate meat because I was too tired too cook for myself (my teenagers eat a lot of meat right now :)) and forgot to drink. I loved what I did, but I totally forgot to take care of my body. In August my GFR unexpectedly dropped to 14. 9% has been between 12% and 14.1% since then. I feel great thanks to my 99% plant-based diet and believe it is the answer. Our bodies are forgiving, but we have to honor them.
