Having my PD line put in on Tuesday. Nervous, but if it can help me live I'm all in. Fingers crossed 😁.

I know how you feel. I have mine in three weeks time. I have been putting it off but the time has come. My eGFR is 8%. Are you having it done under local or general anesthetic? My doctor only does them under general which I really didn't want.

My function was 9% the other week. having PD under local. Are you having PD or Hemo dialysis?. PD in is usually done under local. Hemo is usually done under general anesthesia. Every person is not the same though, I would discuss with Dr , there be a reason why they are doing it under general rather than local.

No PD. We met with the surgeon last week and he insists on doing the operation under general anesthetic which I really didn't want. Not got much choice. Well best of luck for Tuesday. Let us know how it goes. You will be fine.

That is unusual from my experience. Most PD placements are done with general and hemo A/V fistulas and grafts done under local and light sedation. Surgeons preferences vary greatly though. Make sure you discuss well with your doctor your concerns or expectations. Blessings

I'm in the UK. I think they work a little different. 😁.

I am in uk too and my old nephrologist was willing to put the PD pipework in using local but he retired and the new one always does general anesthetic for the same operation.

I sent you a NHS link on pd in previous comment on ( I think). It may help. I'm sure it will go okay. Do you have pd nurse? They usually give you a PD nurse number to ask questions, maybe just phone and ask why if your concerned.

Best wishes on your pd insertion surgery. It will make you feel better soon! Allow time for your body and mind to heal after the surgery.

Honestly I can't wait.. I just want to feel human again. I had no symptoms until 2 weeks ago now I seem to everything. I never do things by half's though πŸ˜‚. I'm used to having big surgeries so fingers crossed for this one

Hi just had mine placed 2 weeks ago and for those wanting it done under local you really want to have it done laparoscopically and under general anesthesia. Yikes it was a little painful but it thankfully heals fast if you take care if yourself. Don't lift anything and follow your dialysis nurse directives all should go fine. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask? Best of luck to you on this journey!

Had mine on Tuesday. Couldnt have any of the sedation or pain meds just local. I felt Sore after but I've just started emergency dialysis. It's not too bad a bit of pain because you have lie flat if it's new. So I'm not going to lie i was in a fair but if pain and uncomfortable, but can only get better
