Hello, I haven't been on in a while. It's been a long and rough year. I took a two or so year hiatus from going to the doctor. I'm getting back into going to the doctor and getting my checkups. I have my first nephrology appointment coming up. I'm nervous because I haven't gone to a nephrologist in over four years or so. I'm worried they'll say my kidneys came out of remission and I'll have to go back to all the meds I was on before. I know I shouldn't play the game of what if, but that's where I am right now. If something does go wrong, I'd have to make a lot of changes. If nothing goes wrong, I'll be in the clear, at least for a time.

HI Kristilaureo,
Why would you ever stop going to the doctor....you sound like my 30 year old daughter so you really don't have to answer. That is like playing with the devil. But i think you know this.
You can't do anything about what has been. So move forward, keep your appointment and deal with what the outcome is when you hear it.
Let us know if we can support you.
At this point you need to get in for this appointment. Then commit to any treatment plan set into place including keeping all future doctor’s appointments.
Let us know how the appointment goes.

I guess I have a hard time understanding why you wouldn't go to a doctor for so long, especially if you knew you already had a kidney issue?#$ Whatever has happened in this time has happened and you can only go from this point on.
Please keep your appts from now on and follow the doctor's plan. Let us know how it all turns out? Hope it all works out....
Russian Roulette anyone?
I can certainly understand why you would not want to go to the doctor, most people would rather not go. People are afraid of bad news and coping with that fear and anxiety can manifest in avoidance but all along you know you will eventually have to see the doctor again this causes one to be caught up in a vicious cycle. Before I was diagnosed with CKD I stayed away from the doctor for a very long time. I'm embarrassed to tell you how long. But my CKD diagnosis over 5 years ago changed that. I then knew then that I had to face my fears or it was possible that I might become very sick. So now anxiety, fear, etc. I make it a priority. You need to know you are not the only person out there feeling the way you do. You have to bite the bullet and face whatever issues come your way. More than likely things will not be as bad as you imagine. It is just a matter of getting back on track and following your doctor's advice. if you are not satisfied with your current doctor there are others out there. My very best to you.
