Hoping someone can give us some direction. I have a middle-aged son who is seen by a kidney specialist pro bono. He says once my son gets insurance he can put him on the transplant list. We live in Texas. My son was just laid off but has never had insurance through any employer, does not qualify for medicare (told to apply again once he has a transplant or starts dialysis), does not qualify for Affordable Care, and we do not have the money to out right pay for insurance for him. Does anyone know of someplace we can go to try to get some help with insurance?

If he's not working he should be eligible for Medicaid even though I don't think Texas has "expanded Medicaid" under ACA
