Half way! Hit my latest target!

Ok so my weigh day is Fridays officially so this lb loss won't officially count until next week! But today I weighed in at 12 stone 6lbs ! I set myself stone by stone targets and started at 15 stone 6lbs.

So whoop! 3 stone loss now! Which is halfway to my overall healthy BMI of 9 and a half stone! HALF WAY! It seems so far yet so achievable now when 6 months ago I was going to aim for 11 stone and count myself lucky if I manage that!

At 11 stone 9lbs I will no longer be classed as obese! So 11lbs to go! Hopefully by Easter!

Btw I am so happy to have this forum to post this on! It's difficult to tell friends and family and not bore them to death with all this health, exercise and food topics! Lol

PS yes the picture above is my version of a marble jar! All the blue is my lbs loss! 😊

Hey Soulcee. Welcome! This answer is going to be long lol

I have tried and failed diets in the past and I think for me this was for two reasons. Firstly whatever "diet" you choose has to feel right and natural. So, although slimfast in the past did work I soon got fed up of it and gave up quickly and it was never going to be a permanent lifelong solution. I discovered the 5:2 diet about a year ago and it really appealed to me as there is no rules or restrictions on what you can eat (and I'm very fussy) and you only have to be strong willed two days a week. So instead of cutting 500 calories from your diet daily you drastically cut two days a week but eat normal the other five.

I lost 14lbs just doing the 5:2. However I hit a block and started looking at what I was consuming in calories my other days so I do now calorie count daily. I like making lists and number crunching so this is fine for me. Again: you have to find a system that works for you. I still eat lots of chocolate and junk and enjoy my food but all within my calorie allowance!

Secondly: Exercise!

I also decided to try the couch 2 5k program and was surprised to find I really really enjoy going outside for exercise. I began with walking 30 mins a day and my weight loss increased dramatically! Just from walking! I now jog three times a week and I have the exercise bug so I enjoy cycling, swimming, treadmill and aerobics too. But it all started from just walking.

Exercise, for me, has definitely been the key to my weight loss alongside diet. If I didn't exercise I would have to cut an extra 3500 calories a week from my diet! And I just can't do that and feel like I'm not deprived! And feeling unhappy with your diet/exercise will undoubtedly lead to giving up on it.

Ok that's probably enough rambling! I am sure you will find lots of useful info on here about the 5:2 or other methods of losing weight that appeal to you!
