Been putting this off all day

Ok so the scales arrived this morning and I weighed. I've been plucking up the courage to post the result all day but I realise this is what this forum is for.

Today is just day 1 of a long journey and if I work hard I may actually be proud of future results that I post it's just getting started.

So I'm 18st 8 and want to get down to 11-12. I did my first gluten free shop today (doctors orders) so I'm quite nervous about my first week because right now I just want to get used to the new foods I can/Can't eat.

I just need to watch my calories and I should be ok. Going to start using my cross trainer tomorrow so that should help me along a bit.

I know it is hard sometime to share your weight at the beginning but you have done that now so well done you. :)

Just think that is the last time you will see that number and now you are starting to eat healthier it will start to go down. Feel proud of yourself for taking that first step. :)

Don't forget to use a tape measure so you can see the changes on days the scales don't move.

Good luck with your first week. :)

Good luck ChelseaS it sounds like your off to a fab start 👍👏 the cross trainer sounds like a great idea even if it is short sharp bursts of exercise to start with, i am trying to incorporate 10 min sessions of fast paced walking (where you get out of breath and your heart is pumping) and am hoping to then increase either the number of times I do these short bursts of exercise or increase the amount of time doing it. I wish you all the best for your journey and do let me know how the cross trainer gets on as this might be something I'd like to move onto to mix up with the walking 😊 I do know though that whatever exercise you choose to do it really really helps if you enjoy it 😅

Thank you, I'm going to build up the exercise over time I think because I have issues with my knees but I'm feeling positive.

I'm feeling a lot better now than I was earlier today.

I will let you know 😁

Thanks again, good luck to you!

Well done for posting and you're right about easing yourself into the exercise... by far the sensible way to do it.

in reply to Tiggerr

Yes the last thing I want to do is stress over it by doing too much too soon because I hate exercise so I'm thinking of doing 20 mins on a Saturday and Sunday and 10 mins 2 evenings a week, when I feel I can do more I of course will build it up

It’s daunting and scary but you have just overcome your first major challenge so HUGE congratulations for that. You should be very proud of yourself.

Welcome to the forum.

I’ve been here since Feb this year and come to realise that this is all about making a life change. Take each day as it comes, small regular steps to make a big difference.

All the very best of luck I look forward to reading how your journey unfolds I’m sure you will smash it.

Thank you that's really supportive, I do need to remember to take it one day at a time, I'm a big worrier I stress over everything so this really helps

Worst bit over and you survived it so here you go on the journey to improve you❤️

Make short goals, reach them, treat yourself and move on. Don't look at the whole amount you want to loose but be proud of every ounce it all adds up to your final end goal.

Lots of advice so just left to say good luck together we can all succeed just shout out if you need help.😊👍

Well done ! It does take a bit of courage to ‘face our demons’The weight will come off. I’m 66 lost two stone so far in nearly five months but I’m in this for the long term now. I had high blood pressure for which I was taking tablets high cholesterol and I was taking statins and dangerously high blood sugar levels. My blood pressure is now down no tablets now, my cholesterol is normal and my sugar levels have come down from 6.5 to 5.7 into a much safer range.

I feel so much healthier and I find it a lot easier to move around. I have more energy. I am not eating any bread or refined starches so being gluten-free is not a problem. I am using the low carb healthy fat approach so trying not to eat carbs. I am finding that cutting out carbs makes it so that I don’t feel hungry as much as I used to.

Good luck Hidden I wish you every success you will get a lot of advice and support on this site

Kind regards

Jeff
