Eg-sperimenting

I'm having a weird week! Wanting to try different things and change everything! I've decided to try and have more healthy fat and less carbs on SOME days, just to experiment.

On Sunday I made cauliflower rice (cheaper to make than buy!) and I had this with slow cooker pork stew! Bf had normal rice, and I wasn't even slightly jealous as the texture was great.

For dinner yesterday evening I had an egg "pizza" which I think I saw a variation of on the forum and without reading how it was made and it was weird, delicious and NOT a pizza lol.

I also made "egg muffins" to have for breakfast today, to substitute my usual porridge or toast etc.

I've been experimenting with having different things for breakfast to see what keeps me fuller for longer and have bought some kellogs "legends" porridge packs which have like spelt and chai seeds or something in it for a change and to compare to normal porridge.

Two pieces of wholemeal toast with real butter, was the winner weirdly. Not sure if it's just because I considered it such a massive treat that I was mentally satisfied for longer.

It's also become a habit that after dinner I use my remaining allowance for a piece of chocolate. This has suddenly become "as much chocolate as I can have with my calories". So it's going back to ONE treat, not several with "no treat Tuesday" and "super exercise Saturdays" to try and curb this habit/start the week off well.

On top of all of this I've decided to change my calorie intake from 1600 to 1800 as my NHS BMI calculator suggests 1770+, so I'll see if this makes me gain weight and if I do need to stick with and cope with eating at 1600 instead :)

Just sharing some crazy ramblings, I think it's all a matter of trying to see how it goes! Hope everyone else has had a lovely week so far! :)

It's all about trial and error, Kinbun and no two journeys are the same, although we're all hoping for similar outcomes :)

I wish you lots of success with your eggsperimenting, it's an eggsellent idea and will be an eye-opening eggsperience :)

I think this is a excellent idea. Calories are calories but what is satiating and keeps us going energy wise seems to be highly individual. What a great experiment! 😀👍

Thank you. To be honest I just wanted to have a bit of fun and try different things without getting too weighed down by the stress of it all. :)

I've gone by what the Internet suggests contains healthy fats, seeds, nuts, peanut butter, fish, avocados, eggs, olive oil.

Very positive post Hidden ☺ I love food and cooking and am always experimenting.

Good luck with the new calorie target, I think we should eat as much as we can andstill lose weight ☺

Have a good week. Best wishes

I particularly like your post Hidden because I have hit a plateau, and I think I need to try something different. The idea of doing different things on different days appeals a lot - thanks for the inspiration!

I like the idea of a super exercise Saturday. I think I'm going to go for a 'move more Monday'.

I like the sound of that! :)

Egg muffins, is that with fried eggs?

in reply to

I think calling them muffins is very misleading and probably silly of me, as it's just like omelette mix, but it's how I have always referred to them :) it's just whisked eggs (with a bit of milk if you fancy), salt and pepper poured into a muffin tray and topped with ham and cheese :) they puff up like muffins... And then very quickly deflate. But they're quite yummy even when cold :)

in reply to

What oil do you cook them with?

in reply to

I used a tiny bit of fry-light spray oil, one spray per muffin :)

in reply to

I might try it but ill use coconut oil.. they sound eggcellent! :D
