The begining

im starting the 12 week plan today..im hoping to lose a lot 5st it will take a long time but i remember 8 yrs ago i had heart attack which i had 1 stent fitted i am on a lot of meds....because i did nothing but work work work smoke 20 cigs a day eat nothing but junk i remember b4 the attack i wanted to stop the smoking for a long time and from the day of the attack ive never touched a cig since.. i have just got bigger by the year i have type 2 only diagnosed last year on oral medication . i have depression following a lifestyle of work work work and not haveing any sort of life but paying bills and debts....so i want to get if not perfect some sort of life ..there are other major issues which im not to keen on posting on here but like people to know... .... anyway the only way i wont eatmyself to death is to do something. see i live alone now after 23yr marrige and i sleep all day and eat all night.... i have the wanting to lose the wieght but no support or will power....i have tried diets but they dont last due to bordom....and the temptation of a nice bacon butty or a kfc at weekend i use to drink only socially but very rare now... rambling im going now im just going to print of the 12 week plan paperwork.... do a different type of shopping list and start from the begining

    Thank you for your very honest introduction, it sounds as if you really have been through the wringer! This is a new year and a new start for you and I'm sure that everything is going to work out beautifully :)

    Well done for giving up the cigs, if you can do that, you can lose the weight too. I can say that with confidence, because I've done it myself. I gave up smoking and started my healthy living last September and, to date, haven't touched another cig and have lost 7 stone. If I can do it, I'm positive that you can too! :)

    Go to the Pinned Posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile) and take a look at the Welcome Newbie thread. If you have any questions, look at the Topics below, to see if they'll help you out, or ask on the forum. Join any, or all of our challenges :)

    We run daily weigh-in sessions and you would be very welcome to join us today, or any other day. The thread can be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom if using a mobile.

    Many people have been successful with the 12 week plan, if that's something that you'd like to do. Don't forget to take initial measurements and photos, as it's a great way of seeing just how far you've come, especially when the scales aren't co-operating fully :)

  • Hi Ronny and welcome to this friendly forum where it's non judgemental and all you will receive is support and advice. 😊

    There are so many people who have found themselves finally getting their life back so to speak after years of bad luck, problems, depression etc but once you have made the first step like you just have by taking back control of you the snowball effect happens, you start to feel fitter, breathe easier, clothes feel looser, have more energy, feel more confident and am a lot happier.

    Stopping smoking is amazing I wish my husband could do it but alas it seems to have him well and truly hooked. So a massive WELL DONE from me for that one it takes a lot of will power and if you can lick that you can loose the weight.

    Lots of info on the newbies post, choose which day you want to weigh in each week ( no Sunday) but only if you feel confident to do so, the 12 week plan really educates you into thinking differently about foods I now take ages to food shop cause I am too busy reading the labels lol.

    Be active on the forum even if it's just having a daily read of posts and shout out if you need help. All that's left to say is go for it, give yourself a small first goal say the first half stone and have a non food treat when you reach it plus claim your first badge from the forum.
