Good morning! I am 69 years old (32 in my head!) and very overweight. I am determined to do something about it and look forward to sharing my journey. I have,in the past tried just about every diet on the market sometimes with moderate success but always fell back into the bread bin ( my Achilles heel!). Now feel too fat to go swimming or do any other type of exercise so have joined the NHS weight loss plan to see if that will be a success. Hopefully onward and upward!!

Welcome, and good luck for 2017 and the new you! I'm sure you'll find that this forum, and the support it offers, will make a difference to you. The 12 week plan is working for me, and im finding the discipline of counting calories is a good re-education!

Theres a 'welcome newbies' thread in the pinned posts section - have a read! Do join in with chats and challenges on the forum, and get stuck in!

There are a few changes going on this week to the weekly weigh ins, and how they will be run, so keep an eye on the site and see whats happening.

all the best!

Hello and welcome Jude-b

Finding the right eating plan is important, especially if its to be successfull long term ☺ I still eat bread as its my favourite food and cannot, in all reality, give it up for good 😕 But I stick to wholemeal and limited quantities. Carbohydrates seem to have fallen out of favour recently due to high sugar content but I firmly believe that they are an important part of a balanced diet. ☺

Have you had chance to have a look around the site? The 12 week plan is very popular with its email support ☺ Also check your BMI and target calories, it's important to eat enough to prevent hunger ☺

This forum is also very supportive so please let us know how you are getting on ☺

Best wishes

Anna

Hey Jude-B. I'm a newbie. Don't worry about the swimming. You will be OK when you are ready to take the plunge. I miss my swimming. As soon as my leg is healed I'm in the pool! Now I am going to get the weight down slowly and get into my swimming shorts! Good luck with your journey. G🍀
