New start

Good morning! I am 69 years old (32 in my head!) and very overweight. I am determined to do something about it and look forward to sharing my journey. I have,in the past tried just about every diet on the market sometimes with moderate success but always fell back into the bread bin ( my Achilles heel!). Now feel too fat to go swimming or do any other type of exercise so have joined the NHS weight loss plan to see if that will be a success. Hopefully onward and upward!!

  • Hello and welcome Jude-b

Finding the right eating plan is important, especially if its to be successfull long term ☺ I still eat bread as its my favourite food and cannot, in all reality, give it up for good 😕 But I stick to wholemeal and limited quantities. Carbohydrates seem to have fallen out of favour recently due to high sugar content but I firmly believe that they are an important part of a balanced diet. ☺

Have you had chance to have a look around the site? The 12 week plan is very popular with its email support ☺ Also check your BMI and target calories, it's important to eat enough to prevent hunger ☺

This forum is also very supportive so please let us know how you are getting on ☺

    Best wishes

  • Thank you Anna. I am thrilled that you and others are sending encouragement as I no longer feel that I am climbing this hill on my own! It really makes a difference to how I feel about the whole thing !

  • That's the beauty of the forum ☺

  • Hey Jude-B. I'm a newbie. Don't worry about the swimming. You will be OK when you are ready to take the plunge. I miss my swimming. As soon as my leg is healed I'm in the pool! Now I am going to get the weight down slowly and get into my swimming shorts! Good luck with your journey. G🍀
