Need some motivation

Hi All,

Just want to say hello as this is the first time I've ever joined a forum but I thought to myself hey, you've tried ever other trick in the book when it comes to losing weight, why not give this a bash!

I am REALLY down just now because I cant seem to get into a routine of healthy eating. I just keep going round in circles thinking what the hell am I doing. I say to myself OK today is the day that you start this diet but within 4 -5 hours of making this determined pledge im away down to the takeaway shop stuffing my face with a load of crap!

I don't want to be this person anymore! I'm so sick of always failing! I need to lose about 4 stone and I genuinely don't know how to overcome this (it feels like the worst type of addiction problem)

Sorry if im coming across as a complete nark, I just need some help and motivation and im completely out of it these days...

Have a look at the 12 week plan, either download the sheets or start your own book and write down EVERYTHING! Hold yourself accountable for what you eat. Any time you feel down, demotivated or anything come on here and either post or just read what is going on. We are all in the same boat one way or another. We have all decided to take our lives into our own hands and make a change. Even if it's hard. Everyone on here knows it's hard and are here to support each other.

This is step one. Coming on here is a positive step. Every little thing we change is a victory and the next steps should start getting easier (and they do! Honestly!). But start small. Cut something little out, then when that feels normal, cut the next thing out and so forth. Don't try and run before you can walk, it just ends up in sadness.

Well done one step one! Good luck with next bits!

Hi there have you thought of joining slimming world I am a member and have lost a stone and a half the eating plan is very easy to fit a family in it my grandson eats the sameas myself x weightloss is a hard thing to do without support which you get at the meeting give it a try you won't be disappointed you can go through your doctor and they will refer you to slimming world my nice has 4lb to go to her 2 stone award in 12 weeks she has done this xx good luck cx

I agree. The group that I go to is so positive and upbeat that even when there are blips or stalls in progress the encouragement is there - so long as you stay to the group meeting - and don't just drop in to weigh. There's also a good website which is linked with SW. They are doing some joining offers now. I do this alongside the written encouragement of the 12 week plan and of this forum. I started getting a grip again in mid-July and on Tuesday I had weighed in having lost 22.5 lbs, which is 10% of my original weight. I have a way to go but I am sure that the positivity from going to the group has been key. Good luck.

I agree with mjg, look at the 12 week plan and plan all your meals and calorie count them. nhs.uk/livewell/loseweight/...

Perhaps just reduce slightly at first. My tips are shop for what you are going to eat, make sure you have some suitable snacks available. There's lots of advice on the website. Use smaller plates, weigh portions and don't get too hungry.

If you start exercising as well it will help and make you feel more positive too. Don't look at it as a diet but as a life change. It is so good to feel fitter.

Good luck with your journey.
