Been dieting all my life, I'm 64 now. Disabled so exercising is very hard except swimming but its expensive to go more than once a week with my husband. Now trying the 5.2 diet since I've tried everything else.

Is it possible for you to do aqua-aerobics? This is really the only kind of exercise I can do - I can't swim. I can jump about in the pool for 45 - 60 minutes whereas 5 minutes out of water would finish me off. The water both provides support for muscles and joints and also creates resistance. In some areas it's possible to get this prescribed for health reasons!

Only problem is I have to get someone to take me as my husband is not always available and my eye sight is no too good. I can drive in day light but not night and the classes are at night. It would take 2 buses there and 2 back or one bus with a 3/4 mile walk and I can only walk very short instances. Same as slimming classes. One is only 2 miles from us but by bus you have to go 6 miles to town and then 5 miles to the class and night time buss are not good in the area. Thanks for yor suggestion though.

Perhaps there is an armchair exercise class near you? It might help :)
