Hi, I've been having these headache which comes and go everyday. Sometimes it lasted for a few days . Is it possible to have a scan? Do they do walk in for scan? Will it cost if I'm on nhs?

Hi Bec4942, It's so worrying to have a symptom like constant headaches and I know it does seem as if a scan of your head might be the answer, but you do need to discuss this with your GP. Even if you decided to get private treatment, a scan would only be one thing on a list of many that a private physician would do for you. The NHS will do the same, but only if your GP asks for it to be done. There is no 'walk-in' service. Otherwise the service would be inundated with people with headaches who thought they had brain tumours.

Very serious conditions causing headaches are extremely rare, and, in the case of tumours, it's not necessarily headaches that would be the most prominent symptom.

As with any condition, if you are worried, it's vital that you see your GP to discuss this. But don't expect that the first test offered will be a scan. Other more likely causes of your constant headaches would be tried first.
