Hi Sexybump,

A low-lying placenta in your stage of pregnancy does not necessarily mean you will be affected in the later weeks. We have information about low-lying placenta, and placenta praevia, on our website at nct.org.uk/pregnancy/low-ly...

Hope this helps!

Best wishes,

Alice x

I have a low lying anterior placenta. They noticed at my dating scan and wanted to look at it again at my 20 week scan. It was still low lying and i have been booked for another scan for beginning of March (34 weeks) they seem confident that as my uterus expands the placenta should travel slightly upwards out the way (as there concern is its quite close to my cervix) if theyre not happy with it they will check again 2 weeks later and decide a birth plan for me. I am dreading this as i really dont want anything like a epidural let alone a c section. The situation is with your placenta close to your cervix, when you go into labour your baby will be pushing past it and has a chance of rupturing causing heavy blood loss and they just want to avoid it or keep it as controlled as possible. Speak to your midwife she will talk you through it. Good luck x

Thanks exactly the same thing with me, but cuz I've had two Caesarian they are really worried about the position of the placenta, I'm due to have a scan next Tuesday to check exactly what's going on so hopefully all is well. I'll keep u posted
