Polyhydramnios

Hi, I just got back from my 27 week ultrasound and I to was told that my amniotic fluid is mildly higher then normal. She scheduled my next appointment in 3 weeks. I’m also bad about googling symptoms and now I’m freaking out!! I had the genetic test done at 18 weeks and everything came back normal. Can I ask what test did you have done for your baby?

Hey I had this at 32 weeks - gone by 34 weeks. Don’t worry if it’s only mild, it’s only if it’s severe that they need to do anything an even then it’s just delivering a bit earlier. Sometimes due to gestational diabetes. Looks like it’s not common when you google it but various friends have had it and when I saw a consultant she said the girl before me had it too when I asked how common etc. Don’t worry x

Thank you so much for replying to me. I honestly left the doctors office in a big blur and have been crying all morning, just freaking out. Reading this makes me feel a little better.

Hello! I had it undiagnosed with my first and they thought baby was measuring big (I mean she was haha) but I was induced at 38 weeks and they broke my waters I had 3.5 litres of fluid which was a shock to the consultant! They just kept more of an eye on me during the labour but had no issues to do with poly.

I’m 31 weeks and have it again, I made them check this time as I was having a few common symptoms (swelling of legs, breathlessness and measuring big) but again they are keeping an eye and I’ve got another scan at 36 weeks just to see where we’re at with everything! (My placenta hasn’t moved from covering my os so I haven’t got my birth plan yet). I did however have a blood test yesterday for the poly! They wanted to check a couple of things. She said it could come back with nothing but she wanted to have a look! So going to see what comes back from that.

But I wouldn’t worry, especially if it’s mild! If anything they keep more of an eye on you 😊

Thank you for replying to me. Best of luck to you and your baby! Do you mind if i follow up with you to see what they told you about your blood work? I'm sure they will have to do the same with me. I have a Dr's appt scheduled for next week with my OBGYN.

Sure thing! I have a midwife's appointment next week so I'll ask her to check as my app isn't the greatest for updates!
