Getting my Toddler to eat Peas and Carrots?

My son ate pureed peas and carrots when we started weaning and also still eats them when they are hidden in a shepherds pie or something. But on their own he cannot stand them and spits them out! His nursery have also tried but they're always spat out. Can anyone help or suggest how I could try and get him to eat them?

Thanks x

I wouldn't bother trying, keep offering them and show him that you enjoy them and think they're yummy. The more you make it a thing that they have to eat or the bigger an issue they'll see it as. I'd ignore it and wait till it passes. Or turn your back on them. My child always has something new in her mouth whenever she's out of my sight for two seconds 😂

I agree. If he eats them when they’re hidden keep doing that to ensure he gets his veg.

Keep offering them and other veg separately though, particularly when you are eating them as he’ll be interested in things you’re eating.

My little boy is always a lot more interested in what’s on someone else’s plate, to the point where I’ve been known to put half his dinner on my plate knowing he’ll think it’s mine & try stealing it from me 😂

I would try different veg, everyone has different preferences even adults. My little girl loves broccoli doesnt like cauliflower etc. We always offer her everything and we get her to try it once a month or so and she has found new things she likes. And tastes change.

Maybe he just doesn’t like them, kids can go through taste preferences and changes just like adults. Like others have said, don’t make a thing of it. There are loads of different veg you can use instead of peas and carrots.

As everyone else has said, just keep trying. My little one used to eat every veg I gave him but now it's only really carrots peas and sweetcorn, but I still try to offer other options.
