Malignant melanoma

I am being treated for Necrotising Autoimmune Myositis with Methotrexate and have recently been diagnosed with malignant melanoma. There is some suggestion that I should stop the Methotrexate to allow me to have the treatment for Melanoma which stimulates the immune system. Has anyone else experienced this at all?

Thank you -In stitches

Hello, welcome to the community. Did the methotrexate cause the cancer? What dose are you on?

thanks for your reply. Since my diagnosis for myositis IN 2019, I started on 40mg/day Prednisolone and 20mg/week of methotrexate. Once the CK level had normalised I gradually came off the steroid (last dose Feb this year) and since then have been taking 22.5mg/week of the methotrexate. As both of those drugs are directed towards controlling my immune system there must be a risk that they contributed towards the melanoma.

Institches.
