Symptoms have returned after picking up a bad cold -is that normal?

I was diagnosed with Dermatomyositis in November and I’ve been on my meds since late December. So far I have been doing really well, I’m on Prednisolone, Methotrexate & hydroxychloroquine.

I’ve started with a bad cold this weekend. I had been warned about my reduced immune system and that I could pick up infections. I had assumed that if I caught something it would result in a bad version of whatever I picked up. However I’ve started to feel like my entire condition is getting worse. My arms don’t lift very well and I’m struggling to lift my head again and my legs are giving way and the swallowing issue has returned.

This is the first time I’ve picked up a common infection since being on medication. Is this what happens, is this normal with an autoimmune disease? Is it usual to have a return of your symptoms?

Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks
