Been on prednisolone (45mg/day) and methotrexate (20mg/once a week) for last three weeks. Noticing that I have a persistent waxy sensation and soapy taste in my mouth. Have tried salt gargle and various mouthwash but no change. Also have some flat spots on my tongue and roof of my mouth. Not sore but hurt a little when I brush my teeth. Any ideas what this is and/or what I can do to resolve this? TIA

Hello, I had the same when on a higher dose of Prednisolone. It is probably Oral Thrush and I was prescribed Nystan Oral Suspension to act as a mouthwash and clear the infection up. As your dose of Pred comes down, the thrush will go away on its own.
I agree consult with your GP symptom wise it’s seems like oral thrush. Also with pred you have to drink more water as bacteria/plaque seems to form more! Good luck
