Weird symptoms / Is this related to MS?

BACKGROUND: Dx in 2012 and on Tecfidera since 2013. No relapses since, thank God! But I have experienced some weird things -some recently and some for a long time now.

Read below - what do you think? anyone else experience these things?

1. Long time problem - Periungal warts on my finger (plantar wart next to my fingernail), same finger for many years, I cannot get rid of it no matter how many dermatologists I visit, how many times they use cryo-freeze, inject with candida, salacylic acid, etc. At home Ive treated it with home wart kits as well almost every night for as long as I can remember. Nobody notices it because I work hard to keep it from growing larger - but I CANNOT seem to kill it, and have to keep spending money on treatments to keep it that way. I know my DMT suppresses my immune system and that must play a part, but really there has to be a way here to make this thing die? Does anyone else have this?

2. New problem - bruising on arms/legs for ANY reason. I started noticing earlier this year, small bruises on my upper arms and legs. Initially, no idea where they're coming from. More I pay attention, I start to notice if I just bump something, or literally scratch an itch - the next day I have a bruise from it??? Couple weeks ago I had an annoying mosquito bite that I scratched a lot one evening, and the next day my leg was HUGE black n blue the size of a dollar bill. My mom thought I had a terrible spider bite! And this week -very humid summer evenings, and when my husband and I go for a walk after dinner the gnats outside start to bite plus the sweat makes me sort of itchy, I literally have 5-8 bruises on my legs the next morning! This is definitely something new. Is this related to MS? Why all of a sudden is scratching an itch making me bleed under my skin???

3. New-ish problem - white spot / pustule in the exact middle of my tongue (about half way back) for about a week, and the back of my tongue will feel "swollen". This has happened probably 5-6 times this past year. But no other symptoms and doesn't seem to be related to anything. I wonder if its a sign Im fighting off an infection? Cant find anything on google about what it is or why I have it. Comes and goes every few months. So weird!

the wart thing is happening to me. On my ring finger. Idk if it’s related or not, but it’s happening. The bruising is happening too. Again, I don’t know if related. Thetongue thing no, but it’s been pierced since the ‘90s lol dentists hate it. Which makes me laugh because they aren’t my favorite either lol. I have a weird sense of humor

I had a plantar wart on the sole of my foot. I covered it 24/7 with a piece of Duct tape, the original silver Duct tape, after about 2 weeks it was gone and never came back. I read somewhere online about this remedy and had tried other things to get rid of it and nothing worked except the Duct tape. Strange I know but might be worth a try.

I've heard about that trick with duct tape too!

Yes it works because it cuts off the air supply and then it dies. My husband tried it and it worked on his planters warts. We asked the pharmacist about it and he explained it was the lack of oxygen that caused it to die.

Greetings Klclippert. Definitely will pray for you. Can't say anything about your DMT because I'm on a different one. Are you on any type of blood thinners? If so that could explain the bruising. The tongue thing isn't anything I've experienced or heard about. Did a doctor or dentist ever say anything about this tongue thing? There is a lot to unpack here. MS takes different paths in all of us. Does your neurologist have an idea on your symptoms?

Oh shoot 😬 I remember a time when I had a verruca. My sister had one too, so I think it was because we used to go swimming 4 times a week. My mum followed an old wives cure to get rid of them - something rubbed over them that contained nickel. The only thing she could think of were 10p pieces (british), so she rubbed 10ps over them. They went away fairly quickly.I think that was about the time that there was an ad on TV for a product called "Bazuka." I can still remember what the ad said, "Bazuka that verruca, Bazuka that wart." Mum didn't want to waste a lot money on curing our verrucas. She wasn't working, and was single, and so relied on benefits. But, those benefits seem to be just a UK thing, reading what other countries offer.

I'm sorry I can't offer help with your other problems. I only know that tongues carry a lot of smelly gunk, and so I brush it daily to help keep my breath smelling fresh. I'd look at seeing a doctor or a dentist about that spot in the middle of your tongue.

Maybe get some antihistamines to stop you needing to scratch. That's the stuff in allergy meds for pollen allergies, and can be bought over-the-counter in the UK.

I bruise easily but I believe it's my age (65) and not MS that's at fault.

Wow, those are some weird symptoms! I'm glad it's not just me that strange things happen to, although the only one we have in common is extreme bruising. I've always bruised easily, and as mrsmike9 says, that only gets worse as you get older and your skin gets thinner. But while I was on Gilenya (which I really liked, and did well on) the bruises were something else. My legs and my forearms looked like somebody hit me with a hammer. I would tell people I bruised easily, and they'd say, "Yeah, me too!" but then I'd show them my bruises and they'd say, "You win!". My primary care doctor tested me for leukemia, and my neurologist gaped at my bruises. "That's from Gilenya?!" My husband hated it, possibly because he felt it looked like he'd been abusing me. There's a gel that helps bruises go away, but getting good results is fairly time-consuming as it works best if you use it a few times a day, and takes a bit of effort because it works better if you rub briskly. Now that I'm off Gilenya, I pretty much only use it in the summer, and on bruises that show. Of course, as you make progress on existing ones, new ones keep appearing!

Not to scare you, but you should see your dentist about the tongue bumps, if you haven't already. I wouldn't think oral cancer would come and go like you're describing, but it's hard to really see what's going on in parts of your mouth, and we aren't knowledgeable about what goes on in there. Maybe your dentist could help you get rid of them. The white part could be thrush, but I've never heard of bumps in relation to that.

Warts are horrible sometimes. In high school I got Plantar warts from hell, probably from the locker room when we did swimming in gym. They kept spawning more baby warts, and I, too, had many burned off and had to have one surgically removed. Fun times! I'm so sorry that you have to deal with a wart that can't be vanquished, especially in a visible place. I hope you find a solution!
