I am so glad I didn't set out my seedlings this morning.

Hail, hail, the gang's all here...
Yuck! I wonder if we'll get any cicadas. If so, I hope it's not too many. I should probably do research as to whether they eat veggie seedlings, as I have some of my own. I want to just leave them outside, as my plant light is in the basement, and even with my hubby helping me, going up and down the steps is killing me.
We're supposed to get a double batch. Two different ones that come out at various years bot hit this year. I don't know that they eat much of our veg.
I just read about them this morning. The won't bother your seedlings as they haven't a mouth and they taste like shrimp.🤢
Thank you, falalalala! That's great news. I can kill my own seedlings, thanks, don't need any help! We have our favorites, which is why I grow them every year, even though there are often casualties.
If I tasted cicadas, I wouldn't give my name out, either!
The last time the cicadas were here where we live my husband actually did sauté some in garlic butter 😆
How did you like them??
My friend in Mississippi says that the cicadas are everywhere and extremely loud! We don't seem to have any yet here in GA, but it has been getting cold again, down in the upper 40's night before last. We are supposed to get two broods coming out as well. I hope they are not too loud, the frogs behind my house get loud enough!!
Ouch! We resisted the urge to plant much until this weekend, but there are no guarantees!
I bet!
Last year, we planted ours on Mother's Day and a huge branch fell on them.👍
We fixed that, then another branch fell on the garden.👍👍
I now wear a helmet when I pick tomatoes😅.
That may be me this year! I put my raised bed a little too close to an aging maple, and I swear there are new branches on the ground every time I go out there.
I am not sure what the picture is showing? I know it is nothing good, but is it that insects ate grass?
No, we had a hail storm. It covered the sidewalk and ramp completely, both of which are normally shades of gray. In fact, it was all still laying there 5 hours later when I finally went to bed.
That was my initial thought and then I read all the stuff about insects. 😆
I thought I was looking at bugs, sorry I kind of sidetracked that conversation away from falling objects. 😁
I’m so glad you didn’t put out your seedlings!! I worked in a flower shop for 30 years(until MS took away my ability to work) and the general rule of thumb was plants were safe to go outside at Mother’s Day. I always put most of my house plants out on the porch. I’m dragging my feet this year as it’s still getting cold at night and some of the days are very cold and rainy. My son is graduating from college this week and bring a cat home. She was in my plants at Christmas and I was hoping they would be outside, out of her reach by the time she came for good. It’s not looking good. 🤣
