Hi I've spent the last 2 years suffering with severe Trigeminal Neuralgia I tried all the different drugs they kept the pain under control but the side effects were terrible They made me so wobbly I suffered a herniated disc and sacroiliac bone inflammation So yesterday I had radio frequency lesioning in attempt to come off the drugs.I just don't know what to think and am worried it has not been successful My pain has always been extreme lanciating pain in the left fold of the nose to the upper lip all on the left side After the procedure I am incredibly numb in my lower left lip, teeth and chin where I have never had pain. I'm so worried that somehow they have treated the wrong nerve The consultant said the plan was to create numbness in the area I felt the pain After the procedure when I explained I was numb in a different place to the pain He suggested waiting six weeks then let him know how it is Ha this happened to anyone else what was the outcome ? Thank you

Trigeminal Neuralgia

I had gamma knife @10 yrs ago for my TN. At first had to continue the meds x 6 mos. Had numbness. Now 🙏 pain free. Numbness dissipated. I am grateful. Hang in there 🤗
Hi Erash, Thank you so much for your reply it was actually radiofrequency ablation where they enter through the cheek and burn the branch of the trigeminal nerve causing the problem. I'm so pleased for you that you have found some relief I have messaged the consultants secretary and hope that he can offer some reassurance and that I won't need to have it done again (It's done under general anaesthetic in the UK ) You've been pain free for 10 years? That's amazing, Long may it continue
I hope you are resting better.thinking of you...sure isnt an easy one.
Hello, I have had Radiofrequency for the 2nd time in May. The first time lasted 11 months in which I returned asking for something more definite to end the pain. The doctor recommended radiofrequency for a second time in which I obliged. I feel the difference in which the area now feels swollen. The area does feel like it was numbed plus a little more. I still take meds.
