No surgery quite yet

So, I met with the surgeon this morning. When did they start graduating from medical school in infancy? My doctor should not be younger than my children!

Anyway, he said that yes, I need gallbladder surgery, but the situation is not as urgent or dire as my GP's receptionist made it out to be. He was willing to do the operation right away, but we agreed with his suggestion to run additional tests first and see what else is going on with my guts. My symptoms have been all over the place, and he agreed that it sounds like I might also be dealing with gastroparesis.

We'll start with a test for that in 2 weeks, then decide whether I need to swallow a camera for further testing or just go full speed ahead to remove the gallbladder. I really liked the doctor, so I'm feeling much better about everything now.

That's great! So glad you have a doctor you have confidence in - even if he is a young whippersnapper! 🤣

I agree  NorasMom when did the doctors get so young?? I used to not trust their skills as much due to certain lack of experience; but the truth is sometimes I find that they an advantage of having learned a lot of new medical technology that perhaps the “older” doctors aren’t quite as up on. (I’m sure some older experienced docs DO keep up on all the latest stuff, so please to all doctors out there don’t take offense) I’m with you though Nora, I love having the same doctor over decades that I know knows her stuff and has lots of experience. I’m glad you like this new doctor! I keep threatening a couple of my docs they’d better never think of retiring but HA I don’t think they’re scared of me. 🤭 🤗

Yay! The first hurdle has been overcome! (Finding a good doctor.) I am so glad. So hopefully you can relax and enjoy the holidays.

I literally have shoes older than most of my doctors. That being said, my docs have been wonderful!

There was talk of removing mine recently since I had some classic symptoms, including a 5mm polyp at one time and a very likely genetic component. I had the following test that is designed for your gall bladder. I would highly suggest this test before getting cut open. The tech where I went was an eccentric character to say the least. He shared with me something like 95% of tests were unremarkable. Very few people had gall bladder issues that passed through the doors of this facility at least. If you havent had this do it. Dont get cut unecessarily. I cant imagine surgery without this test. Hopefully you have had it.
