just wondering if any women who are on Ocrevus have had any gynecological infections (not asking about UTIs)? I’ve had an infection since January that my local gynecologist hasn’t been able to successfully treat. She sent me to a special center at a university hospital two hours away and they said they’ve seen this kind of infection with women who are on B cell depleting medications. Sound familiar to anyone?
I asked my neurologist a few months ago when I saw him last and he didn’t have any thoughts about this.

I thought I had a yeast infection about a year ago because I had thick white discharge. It wasn't itchy like when I have had them in the past but did an OTC treatment anyway. I saw my Gyn a few months later who noticed the thick white stuff inside my vagina so took a culture. There was no yeast. He also added estrogen vaginal cream on top of the estrogen patches I had started about 6 months before that visit. Within a couple months of using the cream it got better. I think menopause was just decreasing my normal secretions turning it into thick white secretions and with the estrogen replacement it got better. My GYN told me at my last visit my internal tissues looked much healthier. Still have dryness and irritation on the outside so trying to focus the estrogen cream more on the outside now.
Yes Elizt3 , I had an usual gynecological infection called Pyrometra. During my 4th year of Ocrevus, my antibodies were getting really low and I got infection after infection. In year 5 I got the Pyrometra and Pelvic abcesses. It took months and many courses of antibiotics to get it figured out. All this because Ocrevus depleted my immune system so much. This isn’t common.
oh - i just read about pyrometra - that sounds very serious. I'm sorry you went through that and that it's under control now. They think that I have either DIV or pyoderma vaginitis (apparently, they had recently seen several patients on b cell depleting meds with PV). thank you for replying
It unfortunately was very serious and I had to have major surgery to fix everything. I’m no longer on Ocrevus and am scared to try any other B cell depleter because of what I went through. But like I said…my situation was unusual.
Sorry to be posting now as I have had all sorts of things happen since last year. I too got a vaginal condition diagnosed as Vaginal Lichen Planus. The diagnosis came from an infectious disease gyne. I also had an uncommon lung infection which led to diagnosis of a rare benign tumor called a schwannoma which I had to have removed along with my adrenal gland. Now I have developed immune-mediated IBD. So I guess this is the end of Ocrevus for me.
thank you for replying (no worries about timing). was the condition treated effectively? wondering what they did for the lichen planus? I'm still being treated by my situation - the symptoms are better but there are still too many white blood cells.
I use a clobetasol creme once a week now. It was pretty bad there for a while but the creme works. It is also a chronic condition that I will have forever.
