I swear by an electric heating pad. I use it any time I'm sitting around the house, whether I'm at the computer or watching TV. It's made a big difference. I also use Icy-Hot, but admittedly that's a bit difficult to put on your back when you live alone.
Welcome to the forum, nsad100 ! There are many members that can personally recommend what they do for pain management. I can recommend that you visit mymsaa.org and put ‘pain management’ in the search box. I hope that this assists in your search. Keep Smiling and I look forward to hearing more from you!
Physical therapists will assess you and create a stretching and exercise program tailored to your needs. They can also perform other treatments that can help with pain. They go to school for a long time (PhD) so are very knowledgeable.
nsad100, I had severe back and leg pain for years. I thought it was a permanent situation. I found relief by taking 2 tylenol and 1 ibuprofen every 6 hours. Finally, purely by accident, I found a terrific massage therapist. He gave me a minimum of a 1 hour deep tissue massage every three weeks. My pain was decreased by at least 30% after the first treatment. I think I am fine now but I still get an hour massage monthly. Even though I feel comfortably loose my therapist assures me my muscles are quite spasmed. I firmly believe I would not be walking if iI did not meet my man with magic hands.
