Anyone who has ever had this dreaded test understands exactly what i'm saying. Tomorrow I have my third colonoscopy! Yuck. I'm in the middle of drinking that gallons of prep you've got to drink the night before the procedure. I've starved myself the entire day with only a couple of cups of jello to eat. And lastly, I get to look forward to the hours and hours spent on the toilet cleaning out my bowels! Does it get any better than this......😮💨😪😬. It's an absolute torture test! Fancy59.

Dreading tonight.....
Poor you. My dad is having one tomorrow also! Not that that will make you feel any better, but I know this has not been a fun day for you. I’ve been through it myself so my deepest condolences; but the bright side is you get that awesome little perfect nap tomorrow! And then this will all be behind you. Wishing you the best tonight and tomorrow. 🤗 💕
This will be behind you, Hest19 ? Excellent pun!
You’re quick! And clever. That totally below over my head!!! 🤭 Lol P.s. My dad did terrific today, dr only reported hemorrhoids and 2 polyps. 🥳 He had NINE polyps last time!
You hang in there friend!! At least you are not drinking all that cold fluid in January the way I'm going to be next year… Lol that prep made me so freaking cold! The best cleanse Ever!!
Even in August I'm freezing too!🥶 LOL! Fancy59.
My sister went in for a colonoscopy a few years ago. The receptionist greeted her saying, "You're right on time! Except it's next Monday, not today." She had to go through the whole, awful prep a week later. So, Fancy59, it could be worse. I was thrilled when my primary care physician told me I no longer have to have colonoscopies due to my advanced age (75). So there's that to look forward to. Good luck.
I eventually will, but if I did every test and procedure they want to schedule me for, I'd have to live at the hospital.
My gastro's been trying to get me to have this done for awhile.
I tell them to quit flirting and they stop....for a minute.😅
Good luck with your appointment.
The joys of life and getting older 🤪🤣 Good luck 👍🏼 🙏😉
For my last Colonoscopy I just had to drink one pint(?) of stuff the night before and one pint(?) the morning of. I don't remember spending too much time on the toilet. FYI
oh how I feel for you! My last colonoscopy prep I sat on the toilet and my husband brought the drink to me at the timed intervals. GAG! Then I found out my brother used something that only required him to drink 10 ounces!!! I will be googling that for next time.
Definitely not a fun time... I've had a few due to a history of crohn's disease in the family. The only good part is the going to sleep for the proceedure. Best sleep in the world, until they wake you up... 😀Good luck
I have had one, my husband, two. Between his 1st and 2nd the prep was changed for him. The 1st time was that dreadful bottle of icky from the pharmacy. The 2nd time was Miralax in Gatorade. It was so much better simply because it wasn't so gaggy. Ask to see if you can change to that.
Good luck with your test today Fancy59
ugh! Hate those drinks. They make me throw up.
How did it go, Fancy? The prep is the worst part. Yuck. Hopefully, the whole thing is over now. Good for you, for taking care of yourself with this unpleasant test!
I have one coming up
For the record, we requested the tablets for my father so he wouldn’t have to drink all that nasty stuff. It worked well. He still of course had to spend much of last night on the toilet but oh well. He’s feeling great now!
The FDA approved a tablet alternative, SUTAB (sodium sulfate, magnesium sulfate, and potassium chloride), introduced by Sebela Pharmaceuticals. This tablet option makes colonoscopy prep a much easier process than before. It is the first colonoscopy prep tablet introduced in the US in the past ten years.

Yes, I have had them a lot, Fancy59 . Just think how good you will feel after the procedure, clean as a whistle and able to relax, snuggled up in your bed!
I won't ever have another one unless it's a life saving procedure. I use the Cologuard instead. It can't see weak spots in the colon wall or remove anything but it can detect several things without all the major discomfort.
My son had one done last year, and all he had to do was mix a powder into a clear liquid of his choice the night before and then have no food or drink after midnight. The test was fairly early in the morning. I'd forgotten about that until I started reading all these horror stories.
It may sound and be disgusting but it can save your life. I was diagnosed in 2010 with colon cancer. The Dr. found 25 polys but only one was cancerous. I had to have 20% of my large intestine removed, wear a colostomy bag and have a port placed near my heart for chemotherapy which I did not take. It may be horrible to drink but a least you know what is going on inside you. Just a thought.
