I'm alive!!

The knee replacement went extremely well! My rìght knee (the one that was replaced) is actually stronger than the left knee and only 3 weeks after surgery! Hip, Hip, Hooray! My MS didn't flair up at all, unlike when I went septic back in August. Life is good and for the first time in a long time I see my future as positive. I ordered this morning an upright walker. They introduced It too me at rehab when I was in the Rehabilitation center trying to work on my knee. I understand even though my knee is much much better that my balance is still as bad as always. When I used the upright Walker I felt like I was totally supported and felt amazingly balanced. So I wanted to give it a shot at home to see if it would prevent me from falling so often that I would tear up my new knee or other parts of my body. I can't keep falling like I haven't the past or sooner or later the results will not be in my favor. As I rehab my right knee I am in the process of also strengthening my left side which at the side that was hit hardest with my MS and is a lot weaker than it should be. With my right knee back to some almost normal strength that will allow me to work on the left side a lot harder and improve it as much as possible. After that the sky is the limit and I hope to be back on my horse by next summer. It might be an over ambitious goal but what else do we have to do but to set goals and fight to achieve them! Never give up and set high goals because then you will fight to achieve them. Together we are stronger! Fancy 59.

I think you can accomplish a lot if you set your mind to it. But even I have to admit that my knee replacement went extremely well with less pain and better comeback time than I expected. Fancy59.

Yay! So glad it is working so well for you. Keep setting those goals, it’s great to have things to look forward to, not backwards!

Kelly, my mind set and my goals are what keep me going. I've got to keep improving or I'll roll over and quit. And that's not an option for me because I don't know the meaning of the word quit. Fancy 59.

I'm riding a happiness bubble so big you can't believe it right now! My walking horse is always ready to go and enjoys the attention so I imagine he won't mind being ridden by me much anymore either. Your wishes of my happiness and your support means so much to me. Fancy59.

So happy for you! I had my right knee replaced long before MS came to me. I was back riding my bicycle by 2 months, and rode with my group from Santa Cruz, CA to Malibu, CA the following summer!! 360 miles in 6 days!! We had fantastic support groups that took care of our camp gear. others that provided rest & a lunch stop for the riders. I had to ice my knee a couple of times, The new knee helped the other knee get stronger. Again, I am so happy for you!👍👍
