What are my fellow MSers doing with the newest Covid-19 Variants, XBB1 & XBB1.A, on the uptick in the United States? Do you get a new Covid-19 vaccine every six months? What is the MSers protocol?

FWIW, I've read that the newer variants are very evasive to both the original and the bivalent vaccinations as well as the Euvasheild (sp?) treatment for seniors, sick, and immune-compromised folks.

Please know that it's not my intent to be a "Debbie Downer" of sorts as we ring in the new year, but, I'm seeking input and guidance from My MSAA Community. As always, thanks for your input!

Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year! Best to All in 2023! πŸ˜€πŸ™πŸ‘

I'll get it when my kids do πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Or we just had it, hard to know which germ is what these days. Are there any specific symptoms that set this strain apart from the others?

I have been watching John Campbell talk about it recently, and it looks like China is having a devastating time. I don't think it's the same strain though.

Ok, I went and answered my own question. No, it's not any different, except now fever is not on the list (it still was last year).

Speaking only for myself, I had the 2 original vaccines, and I've now had 3 boosters. The third booster, which I had a couple of months ago, was supposed to address the newer strains of Covid. Between the 4th and the 5th vaccines I did test positive for Covid. I thought it was a sinus infection.

So, sorry to hear of your testing positive. If I may ask, what were your symptoms? How long did it take to know it was Covid? Did you take any other tx for it? Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year!

Doing nothing new. Still taking hydroxychloroquine.

Are you taking hydroxychloroquine in the belief that it will either prevent COVID or will treat it if you do get it? Multiple studies have shown that it does neither, so if you have not been prescribed it for some other disease why expose yourself to the risks of taking a drug which has no benefit for you?

Here's some of the serious side effects that can occur:

professionals.optumrx.com/c...

This article is only 6 months old, so very recent:

"In this double-blind, multicenter, randomised trial, hydrocychloroquine did not significantly reduce the risk of hospitalisation due to COVID-19 as compared with placebo in symptomatic non-hospitalized patients. "

thelancet.com/journals/lana...

This comprehensive analysis of multiple trials of the drug showed that deaths were actually higher in patients "treated" with the drug.

"This collaborative meta-analysis of 28 published or unpublished RCTs, including 10,319 patients, shows that treatment with HCQ was associated with increased mortality in COVID-19 patients, and there was no benefit from treatment with CQ."

I've had 5 shots. Each shot makes me sicker than the one before. I sure hope I'm covered because I really don't want to have anymore!

I’m doing nothing different than I have the past 3 years. Still exercising an abundance of caution since my immune system is still trashed from Ocrevus.

i don't see it as being depressing, but informative. i didn't know that the boosters don't protect against the new variants until i read this. so thanks. i know there's a protocol for people taking dmt's. hopefully someone else will know. and happy new year.πŸ€—
